CorsaVino founder Arun Sharma is devoted to Italian motorcycles. These fine machines are for him the embodiment of craftsmanship, artistry and savoring the moment.
Originally "not much of a drinker," many trips to Italy exposed Arun to the passion of winemaking and the ritual of slowing down to share a fine wine with friends.
The Italian winemakers' obsession with detail and the quality of each component - all ultimately for the purpose of enjoying life - resonated deeply with his appreciation for Italian motorcycles. Thus inspired, it was an unforeseen but natural journey to blend these shared passions... and capture them in a bottle.
Determined to preserve classic traditions in his Pacific Northwest home, Arun sought out acclaimed winemaker Rich Cushman, vintner and regional consultant of over 25 years, renowned as much for his award winning wines as his warmth as a person. Proposing the idea, Arun discovered Cushmans mutual love for Italian motorcycles - and thus CorsaVino was born.

The Winemaker
Rich Cushman, a Hood River native, has been a winemaker in Oregon since the 1982 vintage. When Rich is not making the wine of CorsaVino, he can be found making his own wine, Viento. The name Viento, Spanish for "wind," was chosen to reflect the constant vibrancy of the wind in the Columbia River Gorge. Rich & family relocated from McMinnville to Hood River in 2007 to focus even more time and effort on the wines of the Gorge. They own and farm a tiny 1.5-acre Riesling vineyard which Rich planted in 1981.
We purchase all our other grapes from friends who happen to be great grape growers with exceptional vineyard sites. Rich will tell you he is "a better winemaker than farmer" -- so we all stick to our strengths. CorsaVino concentrates on vineyards in the Columbia Gorge (an appellation that shows incredible purity of fruit and exceptional balance in the palate) along with a couple select sites in the Columbia Valley, enabling us to bring in some exceptional varietals which are exciting to work with.
At CorsaVino, Rich practices the art of winemaking with respect for traditions and our personal style. The results are wines of balance, softness and wonderful flavors.
